All TVC’s (Television Commercials) or other broadcast TV materials must be properly classified by FreeTV Australia, before they are allowed to be broadcast on Free to Air TV. FreeTV or ClearAds will issue a CAD (Commercials Advise) Classification Number attached to every Television spot.

What’s a KeyNumber?

The unique identification number of a TVC is a KeyNumber. Stations/Networks cannot air a KeyNumber untilk there is a CAD Number attached to the it.

Do CAD Numbers expire?

CAD Numbers usually last 2 years from the date issues, so once your commercial is approved; you are fdine to use the commercial until expiry. In the event that you wish to run your commercial longer – it’s best practice to seek renewal of the CAD Number before it expires. If the CAD Number expires or the producer that sublmitted your commercial to apporval is no longer avaialbel – you will be best to generate a new KeyNumber and seek a new CAD Approval.

At what stage of productionb should I look at the CAD Approval proccess?

Of course we can look to seek the approvals once a commercial is finished but when we begin planning a TVC, we are already considering factors that will meet compliance and have the best chance at getting CAD Approval. Compliance under the ACCC and FreeTV Australia handbook guidelines are exactly what we are considering before even writing the TVC script.

We have a long history in making TVC’s for retail, competitions/promotions, FMCG and Supermarket, Automotive, Pharmaceutical and more.

Rest assured with Ottico Lab, we have a great history in producing TVC’s in Melbourne, Australia.
